Ecology Technical Lead | Environmental Consulting Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.The aim of this role is to work closely with our established ecology team and other leaders to provide technical and business leadership to help shape the future of Arup’s ecology offering in Victoria. This will be through helping to reset and deliver upon our strategic direction, whilst leading the delivery of complex ecological assessments and statutory approval processes across our exciting pipeline of transport, water and energy projects. Arup has consistently led the way in resolving challenging biodiversity and statutory approval issues, embedding natural capital decision making in financial disclosures, and initiating nature led design into our projects. This role offers the chance to build on this strong foundation, and further develop Arup’s capability to lead complex assessments and deliver nature positive outcomes across a range of exciting projects. The Opportunity Provide strategic ecological, statutory approvals and nature positive advice for large complex projects Lead and deliver large, complex ecology projects in Victoria, and support similar projects in other Australian jurisdictions. This will involve coordinating people, facilities and resources within tight timelines and in line with budgetary constraints Provide technical leadership to drive the growth and direction of Arup’s ecology team in Victoria Preparing and leading project bidding and business development activities Responsible for close collaboration with Business Leaders in order to secure work, and input to ecology-lead or multi-disciplinary proposals Leading client relationships and representing Arup in Victoria and potentially nationally where required. Is this role right for you? Relevant industry experience in major transport, water infrastructure and/or renewable energy projects within a consulting or government business environment. Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science or related discipline. Knowledge and understanding of applicability of planning and biodiversity legislation and regulations in Victoria and Australia, including the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Effective communicator who can distil complex ecological matters into client or project outcomes. Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
