Visiting Medical Specialist - Consultant Psychiatrist, Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist - Child and Adolescent Visiting Medical Specialist (regular face to face consult, in person) and Telehealth– Darwin, Northern Territory 12 month contract Flights, car and accommodation provided The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team provides specialist mental health services for young people experiencing severe and complex mental illness and their families/carers. This contractor position offers flexibility, excellent remuneration, and the chance to be part of a multidisciplinary team. What you'll be doing Provide forensic psychiatric care to child and adolescent clients in youth corrections facilities. Maintain detailed and accurate client records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies. Provide urgent psychiatric assessments where necessary, including at-risk assessments. Review clients under your care one day per week through telehealth. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams weekly to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients. Attend onsite at Royal Darwin Hospital for one week, every second month. Ensure psychiatric cover for your patients while you are away. Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse backgrounds. What we're looking for A medical degree with specialist qualifications in Psychiatry (FRANZCP) and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Medicare Provider Number. A commitment to delivering the highest standard of client-centred care. Comprehensive experience in clinical practice and provision of mental health assessment, treatment and case management, including with young people in a tertiary mental health service. Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client-centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to participate in policy and service development within the program and in continuous quality improvement through ongoing evaluation of services. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). AHPRA registration. Australia working rights. All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check and an NT Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
