Vocational Counsellor (Contractor or Casual) Are you curious about what Vocational Counselling looks like within the NDIS or Lifetime Care scheme? Reframe works exclusively within these schemes and is seeking a Sydney-based Vocational Counsellor. Who we are: A dedicated team of Rehabilitation Counsellors, Careers Counsellors and Employment Specialists. We help our clients explore their work, study or volunteering pathways. Our approach focuses on assisting clients regain hope in relation to their careers by building capacity for activities that are meaningful for them. Who we support: NDIS Participants with congenital or acquired disabilities, injuries, and chronic health conditions. Lifetime Care participants following spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries that have occurred as a result of a road accident. Neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, Autism) – both NDIS funded and self-funded. We do the work by: Listening to our clients to meet them where they are at, ensuring choice and control. Collaborating with relevant clinicians as well as disability employment providers, training providers and other community programs. Utilising a variety of qualitative (card sorts) and quantitative (psychometric tools) vocational counselling and career coaching tools and resources. Combining allied health competencies with career development theory and practice. The Role: We are seeking a Vocational Counsellor (Casual or Independent contractor) to join our team on a remote basis. The role involves implementing vocational counselling and assessment techniques to work collaboratively with participants in exploring both pre-vocational and vocational pathways via a tailored, person-centred approach. Pre-vocational pathways aim to build participants’ overall capacity and employability skills through activities such as volunteering, work experience, job shadowing, foundational courses, routine management, and executive functioning supports. Vocational pathways may include options like tertiary study, paid employment (finding and keeping a job), or self-employment. Throughout this process, ongoing collaboration with the participant's family and therapists is required to ensure a cohesive and effective support system which is well-placed to help our participants manage any personal, environmental and systemic challenges. Hourly Rate: $110-130 per hour for billable work. This can be arranged on either a casual employee or on an independent contractor basis. Here's What You Need: Qualifications in Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Developmental Education (Registration with your relevant professional body is required to work within the NDIS scheme). 2+ years experience working in vocational rehabilitation / occupational rehabilitation insurance schemes (e.g. Workers Insurance, Comcare, Life Insurance, DVA, CTP). Ability to build genuine relationships with participants and other stakeholders. Flexibility to self-manage with complex problem-solving and decision-making abilities; confidently to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong time management and organisational skills (or familiarity with digital tools to help with this!). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail and accurate case management for billing and documentation. Commitment to strengths-based and neuro-affirming approaches. A Driver's license and access to own vehicle, NSW Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain) are also essential. Ability to travel within Sydney Metro to meet clients face to face is also a requirement. It’s a bonus if you have… Experience providing vocational supports/services to NDIS participants and/or Lifetime Care participants. Tertiary qualifications in Career Development (Cert IV or Grad Certificate). Experience working with clients following severe injury in a vocational or clinical setting. The ability to travel to Southwest and Western Sydney (Penrith) areas.
