A job to be proud of: St John WA is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled individual to join our team as the WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) System Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract. This pivotal role acts as the primary interface and point of contact between St John WA and WAVED, overseeing the clinical and operational relationship to ensure seamless service delivery. Based at our Belmont site and State Health Operations Centre in Perth, you will be responsible for managing the clinical and operational activities of St John’s part in WAVED, aligning with the conditions outlined in the Service Variation contract and ensuring that the objectives of this initiative are met. You will also play an integral role in the evolution of the service, working closely with our WAVED colleagues to ensure that any improvements are both practical and feasible. What you’ll do: As the St. John the WAVED System Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of this innovative healthcare service. Your key responsibilities will include: Driving operational success, fostering collaboration, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and improving unscheduled primary healthcare in Western Australia. Providing operational leadership to ensure St John WA’s clinical and operational activities with WAVED align with our contract and its objectives. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement strategic initiatives that inform and evolve WAVED. Monitoring WAVED related activity and working closely with the Data Analytics team to ensure accurate data capture, reporting, and performance tracking. Representing St John WA at WAVED patient safety and quality meetings, upholding clinical governance principles and supporting clinical case reviews and investigations as required. Providing leadership to the WAVED Paramedic Navigator (WPN), ensuring the role’s effectiveness and managing associated reporting. Identifying opportunities for service expansion and process optimization, improving internal systems to better support WAVED engagement and patient care. Engaging with key external stakeholders, including residential aged care facilities and healthcare providers, to ensure continuity and quality of care. What you’ll need: Excellent time management skills with the ability to perform well under pressure Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders Background in clinical risk management and governance frameworks, particularly within prehospital, primary care, and emergency department settings Strong understanding of the WA Sustainable Health Review, the Royal Commission into Aged Care, and the objectives of the WA Health Emergency Access Reform and the State Health Operations Centre (highly desirable ) Background in Paramedicine, Emergency Department or Primary Care Nursing or a relevant health related discipline (desirable ) Recognised project management qualification (desirable ) Driving license with no more than six demerit points What’s in it for you? $550 Health and Wellness reimbursement 17.5% leave loading $1,200 Clothing Allowance Competitive remuneration package Salary packaging options Free emergency ambulance cover Free first aid training The Process: Prospective candidates will need to submit their application online.
