As Waste Management Coordinator, you will oversee a large outdoor team with the support of three direct reports. Using your extensive experience, you will lead, mentor, and provide direction to Waste Management and Street Cleaning Supervisors and Team Leaders to ensure high customer service levels. You will manage the effective use of human resources of the waste management, street cleaning, and transfer station units, including staff recruitment, induction, and training while fostering a culture of professional service excellence. You will also: Promote a culture of service excellence by delivering strategic leadership and support to a dynamic team committed to implementing advanced sustainable environmental waste management practices and outcomes. Drive policy and procedural updates including but not limited to rates fees and charges policy, waste management guidelines (in line with Recycling Victoria best practice), and CAMMS performance strategy. Develop and implement service monitoring and reporting systems to effectively measure the unit's compliance and performance. Develop and monitor goals and performance targets for the Waste Management Service teams. Responsible for recruitment, record keeping, budget management, and staff training. Monitor and manage Council's semi-articulate truck fleet to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, Mass Management Standard. Manage and report on recycling, waste tipping, disposal, street cleaning, and related contract performance. This senior position within a leading Local Government Council provides the opportunity to drive positive culture change and make a positive impact for both the organisation and our community. This is a permanent full-time position with an annual salary range of $121,828 - $135,627 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + monthly accrued day off. This is a hybrid position with the opportunity to work one day per week from home. You will be based within our bright, modern, and sustainable Tooronga Depot office, located next to Tooronga Train Station and within walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre. Desired Skills and Experience To thrive within this role you have: Extensive experience in a Waste Management supervisory role ideally within the Local Government environment. A qualification in Project Management or a similar discipline is highly desirable. Experience in managing contracts and service delivery operations. Commitment to a safe work environment with experience in ensuring adherence to Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety. Proven methods for creating a cohesive and positive team environment. Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively assess customer needs and resolve disputes. Demonstrated ability to develop strategic objectives within a City Operations environment. Detailed knowledge of safe Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety. Initiative and flexibility in predicting and preventing operational problems. Detailed knowledge of budgeting techniques with demonstrated ability to develop and adhere to budgets. Tertiary qualifications in business management or other related discipline and/or extensive practical experience in a related field. Commitment to a positive working environment and cultural uplift.
