Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo is on the lookout for a passionate and dynamic Wildlife Operations Manager to join our renowned organisation, committed to conservation, education, innovative animal care, and delivering unforgettable guest experiences. This is a career defining opportunity for the successful candidate to join a world class facility in a Senior Management position. Already an iconic destination, Taronga Western Plains Zoo is embarking on a major new project to redefine the visitor experience in Australian zoos. This role will be at the forefront of driving continued standards of excellence as well as key involvement in the development of new ways of working in the context of the Zoo’s largest ever development project. About the Role… The purpose of the Wildlife Operations Manage role is to lead a team of dedicated wildlife keepers who will work together to provide the exemplary care and welfare of the wildlife in Taronga’s care and offer unique and inspiring guest experiences. This role is responsible for overseeing wildlife precinct operations, animal management activities and related projects with the support of a team of unit supervisors and staff. Key Accountabilities… Manage daily TWPZ Wildlife Operations team activities, allocate resources efficiently to ensure operational and strategic priorities are met and relevant projects are delivered. Maintain the highest standard of animal care, welfare, and behavioural husbandry practices, including complying with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Provide structure, direction, and purpose to the TWPZ Wildlife Operations team by setting goals that aim to achieve Taronga’s strategic objectives. Lead, manage and develop a diverse team of Wildlife Unit Supervisors and Keepers to enable a high standard of performance through Taronga’s Performance Development Framework. Ensure the health and safety of staff by promoting a positive culture of Workplace Health Safety (WHS) and environmental sustainability. Manage the overall presentation of TWPZ animal habitats for guests and enable the team to deliver engaging guest experiences that support Taronga’s guest experience standards, its community campaign objectives and broader conservation goals. Manage and support the implementation of operational and strategic projects via effective project and stakeholder management. As a member of the TWPZ Senior Management team, contribute to the overall operational success of TWPZ. Support the delivery of key strategic projects at TWPZ. About You… We are looking for candidates that have: Extensive experience in animal care and management Leadership experience managing and guiding multiple teams Ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders Ability to adapt and lead change Computing skills including a strong grasp of Microsoft Office programs NSW Drivers licence or equivalent Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
