About The Role We are currently seeking a full-time Workforce Planner to join our Operations Team. Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager at Cruise Whitsundays, the Workforce Planner plays a key role in the scheduling, coordination, and management of the on-water operations team. This position is responsible for collaborating closely with the operation to ensure detailed and compliant operational planning and support, whilst strictly adhering to manning budgets, EA requirements, and mandated crewing levels. The Workforce Planner will drive efficiency and effectiveness in all people planning processes with a strong focus on continuous improvement and to enhance operational performance whilst contributing to the success of the team and the business financial goals. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for managing the roster for all ‘on water' employees, ensuring the rosters are distributed through appropriate means, at least 4 weeks before the commencement of the said roster. Develop and implement workforce plans aligned with budgeted business objectives, operational demands, and seasonal variations in demand. Analyses historical data, operational trends, and guest activity forecasts to predict workflow needs against certified crew available, identifying opportunities for improvements in productivity. Collaborate with department heads to identify crewing requirements for current and future operations including charters. Create, maintain and distribute efficient employee rosters that comply with workplace agreements, awards, and relevant legislation and be the first point of contact for rostering queries. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to maintain documented minimal crewing numbers, safe operational performance, and guest satisfaction. Monitor, analyse and report on workforce metrics such as productivity, absenteeism, turnover, and overtime. Work closely with HR, Operations, and Guest Services teams to align workforce plans with business goals. Communicate roster changes and staffing updates effectively to employees and management ensuring sign off/acknowledgement as required. Maintain accurate workforce data and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality and archiving. Support managers with the application of Workforce Planning procedures to ensure a consistent approach and broad understanding of limitations. In conjunction with relevant Department Heads, ensure effective Annual Leave management encompassing business needs and clearing leave in line with current policies. Proactively involved with recruitment of staff and level of staff required for all business peaks, organising and assessment centres and inductions for staff. Ensure compulsory training plans are in place and training records are stored. Support the Operations Support Officer Admin/Payroll with payroll data to ensure accurate data entry of work times, application of overtime, and payroll balancing, collating explanation for any variances. About You The successful candidate will have a passion for the tourism industry and delivering exceptional guest experience. You will have proven ability in workforce planning and knowledge of relevant workplace laws, awards, and agreements. You will have strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail. Requirements 3+ years demonstrated experience in workforce planning, scheduling, or resource optimisation, preferably in the tourism or hospitality sector. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights. Proficiency in workforce management systems, rostering software, and Microsoft Excel. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
