Job Description

Our Youth Engagement Officer will lead and support the Youth Team, overseeing the general operation of our Community Engagement service. This role involves organising, promoting, and hosting culturally appropriate interventions tailored to Aboriginal youth. Role Overview The Youth Engagement Officer will lead and support the Youth Team, overseeing the general operation of our Community Engagement service. This role involves organising, promoting, and hosting culturally appropriate interventions tailored to Aboriginal youth. Key Responsibilities Program Development: Design and implement culturally relevant programs that address the needs of Aboriginal youth, focusing on skills education and recreational activities. Team Leadership: Guide and support the Youth Team, fostering a collaborative and effective working environment. Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal communities in the Geraldton, Gascoyne, and Murchison areas to ensure programs are aligned with community needs. Resource Management: Efficiently manage program resources, including budgeting and scheduling, to ensure successful program delivery. Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. Essential Criteria: Qualifications: Diploma or Certificate IV in Youth Work or a related discipline; tertiary qualifications or equivalent in health promotion or community health are also acceptable. Communication Skills: Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities. Cultural Competence: In-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture, health, and related issues, with the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people in the Geraldton and Murchison regions. Program Development Experience: Proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating community awareness programs. Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to organise and implement community-based activities within an allocated budget. National Police Check and Working With Children Check. Desirable Criteria: Relevant Experience: Previous experience in a similar role. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. Local Knowledge: Broad understanding of local health service providers, both government and non-government.
