An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative Youth Support Coordinator to join the Student Services team at Thuringowa State High School. The successful applicant will work with students to support them through their learning and engagement at the school. This is a temporary full-time position until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.About Us Thuringowa State High School opened in 1987, and celebrates 32 years of academic excellence, sporting and cultural achievement and a vibrant community spirit in 2019.Our school prides itself on the benefits that come with students attending a smaller school.We believe strongly in our young people, and are committed to providing the very best education and support for them. In the past five years, four of our senior students have achieved an OP1 result.Our values are: together we learn and achieve and no one gets left behind; our purpose is of engaging and empowering students; creating opportunities; and our values are respect, responsibility, safety and community that unite us and guide our behaviours and actions.About The Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and foster relationships between the school and families of students to assist at-risk students to remain engaged with education or training. Conduct home visits with students and their families, as appropriate, to advise and provide strategies for a more positive educational experience. Be part of the professional team working with the school and the community and liaise with students, teachers, parents, guidance officers, special needs teachers, administrative officers, officers of welfare agencies and other government departments. Monitor attendance patterns of students or groups of students and, in accordance with the school's attendance plan, implement early intervention strategies when required. Identify and provide appropriate assistance to students experiencing difficulties at school and at home which may put them at risk of leaving school prematurely.
