The Role: Merlin is seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Manager to join their ANZ team. This critical role will oversee the safe daily operations of their Sydney-based attractions while providing close support to the remaining attractions across ANZ. The role requires a strong leadership presence, with the ability to ensure safe working conditions for both their team members and guests. You'll be instrumental in managing risk, leading health and safety compliance as well as building a safety-first culture across all levels of the business. Key Responsibilities: Daily HSS Management: Lead, support, and monitor HSS across all Sydney attractions to ensure safe operation and compliance with local laws and regulations. Strategic HSS Planning: Develop and implement long-term health, safety and security strategies that align with Merlin's regional growth and operational objectives. Team Collaboration & Support: Work closely with the operational teams across the ANZ region to provide advice, support and guidance on best practices in health, safety and security. Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks and hazards, implementing mitigation measures to ensure the safety of both guests and employees. Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs to ensure all staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools to operate safely within the attractions. Audits & Compliance: Ensure all attractions meet or exceed required health, safety and security standards, conducting regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance. Reporting & Analysis: Lead the reporting of health, safety and security incidents, analysing trends and providing actionable insights for continuous improvement. About You: The ideal candidate will be an experienced Health, Safety & Security professional with a strong background in managing high-risk environments. You'll bring a hands-on approach to ensuring the safety of team members and guests alike, with a deep understanding of HSS legislation and regulations. Your ability to engage and motivate teams and instil a strong safety-first culture amongst senior leaders and operations staff will be key to your success. Expertise in managing strict Health, Safety and Security protocols within a high-risk environment, without impacting commercial outcomes or venue operations is essential. Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a senior Health, Safety & Security role, ideally within an entertainment, hospitality or high-risk environment. Comprehensive knowledge of HSS regulations, risk assessments and safety management systems. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective HSS strategies and programs. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to building a positive safety culture. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
