Close The Gap - Better Health Outcomes What's involved: The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer provides culturally appropriate support, advocacy, and practical assistance for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients, their families/carers, and the community to receive coordinated care across the health continuum of care. This role will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of appropriate and culturally sensitive services to contribute to improved health outcomes and the reduction of health inequalities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. About the Boulia Shire: The Traditional Custodians of the land that lies within the boundaries of Boulia Shire are the Pitta Pitta People, Bulamu Waluwarra and Wangkayujuru People, Kalkadoon People, Wangkamahdla Nation, Yulluna People. The most common liaison services and community connection between Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in Boulia Shire and health service providers include: CWHHS Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN) Other government and non-government service providers and entities. Identified Role: Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
