We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Accommodation Coordinator to join our Accommodation team in Mackay! Part time 29hrs per week | Fixed term until 31 Dec 2026 Mackay $85,816.60- $92,948.21 per year plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits ABOUT THE ROLE As the Accommodation Coordinator, you will: Manage the day-to-day operations of the JCU accommodation infrastructure in Mackay and region including liaison with Tenancy Advice Advocacy Service, the Residential Tenancy Authority, Real Estate Agents, private landlords, JCU staff and students. Provide support and advice to students and other staff regarding accommodation availability, cost, policies and procedures and resolution of accommodation issues that may arise. Maintain strong working relationships with Mackay government agencies, other external organisations, staff at other College locations and JCU central service providers. Supervise staff in the JCU Mackay accommodation team and manage their human resources requirements while maintaining a positive work culture. Responsible for sourcing and securing sub-contractors for activities (cleaning, security, maintenance) and monitoring performance of sub-contractors under those contracts. Provide advice to key stakeholders on matters relating to the provision and operation of accommodation infrastructure in Mackay and region and undertake project planning. Assist with evaluation of accommodation infrastructure options, develop standard and custom information reports to assist in accommodation planning, prepare funding submissions and the review of Licences to Occupy, Leases and Tenancy Agreements. Develop and maintain processes, handbooks and communications. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in student accommodation management, preferably within a multisite environment, with proven skills in managing staff and subcontractors. Strong organisational, problem-solving, and administrative abilities are essential, along with the capacity to prioritise tasks, meet competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgement in a complex work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with the ability to adapt to new software systems, is required, with a high level of accuracy in data entry and attention to detail. Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, negotiate, consult, and liaise with staff across all levels of the university and external stakeholders. Special Conditions It is a requirement of this position to travel within the region and to other College locations in Queensland which may include overnight stays. It is a requirement of this position to occasionally work outside of the ordinary span of hours. It is a requirement of this position to hold a current ‘C’ class Queensland Drivers Licence.
