Job Description

Accounts Receivable Officer / Assistant Accountant (Maternity leave cover) Cheap as Chips is an Australian retail success story. We are a leading discount variety retailer with 53 large format stores throughout South Australia, regional Victoria, NSW, and Queensland, employing over 800 people. We are currently seeking to fill a full-time position of an Accounts Receivable Officer / Assistant Accountant for a 14-month maternity leave cover (ending March 2026), with the potential for ongoing employment post maternity cover contract. This role is a pivotal role within our Head Office Finance Team and provides great support to the store network and head office teams. This role is responsible for providing high quality analysis and support to the Finance Team in areas such as cash flow management, invoicing, and financial reporting. Job tasks and responsibilities Manage Daily banking, account, and cash flow reconciliation Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as well as any ad hoc reports, as required Ensuring all month-end tasks are completed in a timely manner Processing the collection and receipting of invoices Liaising with, and assisting Retail stores and other stakeholders with queries, budgetary and costing requirements Provide back up support to the Senior Accounts Payable Clerk, Business Analyst, Finance Manager and CFO, as required Assisting with the control and audit of the Company’s fixed assets Assisting with preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax return About you This role requires an individual who is fun and laid back, but can also be highly motivated, and inquisitive, with the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines. Applicants must have: Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent verbal, written and numerical skills The ability to work autonomously and take initiative Able to liaise and communicate across all working relationships to keep people informed of activities, deadlines and progress Intermediate – advanced experience with Excel, and a good understanding of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite.
