About the Role: Our client, a health and insurance organisation is seeking an experienced APS6 actuary/data scientist to join their dynamic team. This position will provide leadership and technical expertise in actuarial and data analysis, playing a key role in shaping the future of the organisation. The APS6 Actuary will lead a small team, oversee complex data analysis, and contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities: Data Extraction & Preparation: Cleanse and prepare data from various sources, particularly the data warehouse, and ensure appropriate checks for data reasonableness. Performance Monitoring: Develop and update regular performance monitoring reports. Statutory Reporting: Assist in fulfilling statutory requirements, preparing data and analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister, and public data sharing. Actuarial Analysis: Apply statistical and mathematical modelling techniques (e.g., GLMs, GBMs) to conduct actuarial monitoring, cost-benefit analyses, and other analytical tasks. Model Design: Design actuarial, statistical, and mathematical models to address business needs and inform strategic decision-making. Communication & Reporting: Communicate progress clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed. Experience required: Minimum of 3 years' experience in data analytics/science. Strong experience in data extraction, cleansing, and preparation. Expertise in statistical and mathematical modelling techniques, including GLMs and GBMs. Technical Skills: Advanced R programming, including data manipulation and package development. Proficient in SQL/SAS programming. Experience leading small teams and providing mentorship and guidance.
