Your Opportunity: Tenterfield Shire Council is currently hiring an Administration Officer – Fleet, Works, Water & Waste to provide high-level administrative and customer service support to key council departments. In this role, you’ll be responsible for: Supporting the Infrastructure Managers and Fleet Coordinator with administrative tasks Managing purchase orders, invoices, and financial transactions Maintaining records, data entry, and reporting on water and waste management systems Assisting with fleet vehicle coordination, bookings, and registrations Handling customer service enquiries and liaising with internal/external stakeholders Providing administrative support for meetings, minute-taking, and correspondence Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety policies This is a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same—providing support across the fleet, works, water, and waste services, ideal for someone with strong administrative skills, keen attention to detail, and a passion for working in a diverse and collaborative environment. What We’re Looking For? To be successful in this role, you will need a Certificate III or IV in Business Administration (or equivalent experience in an administrative role) , along with proven experience in a similar administrative position . Your strong background in handling financial transactions, stakeholder communication, and administrative coordination will be essential for excelling in this role. A current Australian Class C driver’s licence is also required. Additionally, you will bring: Advanced computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and prepare reports Experience managing financial transactions , including invoicing, purchase orders, and reconciliations Exceptional organisational and time management skills , with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment A proactive and adaptable work style , with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team While not required, you’ll have an advantage if you have: Experience in local government or a similar setting. Understanding of engineering services and procurement procedures. Financial accounting experience or familiarity with council administration systems. What’s in It for You?
