The CatholicCare Central Queensland and Helem Yumba Domestic & Family Violence Response program provides a range of collaborative and person-centred support interventions to adults, children and young people who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, domestic and family violence. The partnership between CatholicCare and Helem Yumba ensures that all domestic and family violence supports are provided in a culturally safe way. Primary Objective The Adolescent Boys (AB) Facilitator is responsible for the delivery of the trial program focused on trauma-informed, therapeutic individual support services to young men and adolescent boys aged 12-18 years who are using or at risk of using violence, as part of the Supporting Adolescent Boys Trial. The AB Facilitator focuses on promoting recovery and healing from experiences of family and domestic violence, fostering healthier relationship behaviors and contributing to the evidence base for effective interventions. The AB Facilitator will ensure that services are accessible, inclusive and culturally responsive, supporting diverse participants, including First Nations youth, individuals with disabilities, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and will: Undertake intake processes, including risk and safety assessments and develop a comprehensive case plan including client goals; Support clients to access services via appropriate referrals; Act as an advocate for the trial, including supporting, promoting or arguing for a cause, policy, or group of individuals; Provide Court Support where and as required. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience within community/human services sector; Current C or CA class Driver’s license (QLD). Degree level qualification in Community and Human Services, or equivalent. Core Competencies Substantial experience and proven ability in engaging with young people from diverse backgrounds; Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, staff, and external stakeholders; Experience in conducting comprehensive client safety and risk assessments; High-level understanding of confidentiality requirements under Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence legislation, with the ability to navigate legal limitations regarding privacy; Demonstrated ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours; Sound level of experience in using corporate and client management systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite; Demonstrated experience in facilitating and participating in capability-building activities to enhance team skills in trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and addressing technology-facilitated abuse; Practical understanding of issues affecting families and individuals, including domestic and family violence, child abuse, trauma-informed practices, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. Other Requirements Ability to travel and work across CatholicCare offices within the Central Queensland region. The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
