SALHN’s Hand Therapy service is an interdisciplinary service staffed by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists at Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital. This is an exciting new Advanced Clinician role developing and overseeing Hand Therapy Led clinics as part of a new model of care with the SALHN Division of Surgery. About the role: Reporting to the Occupational Therapy Manager, Acute this role is responsible for the triage and oversight of Hand Therapy Led Clinics and the clinical management of complex Hand Therapy patients presenting to the clinics. Duties for the role will include: Developing a specialised Hand Therapy Led service for patients within specialised outpatient clinics by initiating, formulating and applying to clinical practice the Hand Therapy management for this area without direct clinical supervision, Maintaining and updating specialised clinical knowledge and skills in the area of Hand Therapy and where appropriate develop and institute new methods, Responsibility for the organisation and co-ordination of the work performed by therapy staff in the Hand Therapy Led services via co-ordination and supervision of subordinate staff, Provide specialist advice to Occupational Therapy management and relevant surgical division leads re best practice approaches, service development and service need within Hand Therapy Led clinics Instigating and co-ordinating research, evaluation and quality assurance activities related to Hand Therapy Led, assessment and interventions, Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers. About you: A Degree or other qualification which entitles registration as a Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, Ability to manage complex Hand Therapy patients with demonstrated highly developed Hand Therapy skills, Proven extensive experience in providing complex Hand Therapy assessment and interventions, Previous clinical experience in Hand Therapy in; general and acute outpatient health environments, Professionally acknowledged specialist experience in providing Hand Therapy intervention to complex clients.
