Contract Type: Permanent/Ongoing Position Full Time Applications Close: 21 February 2025 We are currently seeking a dedicated, hardworking Agriculture Assistant to support our agriculture operations and contribute to the upkeep of our school farm, gardens, and vineyards. Full-time position working 5 days per week, plus additional hours required for weekends. Join the Faith Lutheran College Team - Inspiring Minds, Shaping Futures. The College is situated in the beautiful Barossa Valley and has an enrolment of 840 students from ELC through to Year 12 located across two campuses. The Agriculture Assistant will be responsible for the daily management and upkeep of the school’s agricultural facilities. This position will support the Agriculture Department by maintaining a productive environment and assisting with the care of plants, animals, and equipment. The role requires someone who enjoys hands-on work, is detail-oriented, and is committed to ensuring the smooth running of agricultural activities. What we are looking for: A sound understanding of agriculture services including preparation and maintenance of livestock feeds, vegetable and garden plots, and land for Agricultural Studies faculty. A broad knowledge and understanding of the upkeep and utilization of farming machinery, including Tractors, Front-end Loader, Chemical Spray Equipment, Forklift Truck, Winery Equipment (press pumps and crusher), and Hammer Mill. A good knowledge of fence maintenance, watering and irrigation systems, weed spraying, and the spraying of vines, broad acre crops, vegetables, and fruit trees. A sound understanding of composting and recycling opportunities, and a good understanding of rodent and pest control and plant disease. Current Working with Children Check (WWCC). Current Driver's License. A certificate or demonstrated knowledge of safe practices for operating farm machinery, handling chemicals, and maintaining a safe agricultural environment.
