Job Description

Our Rockhampton service provides free alcohol and other drug counselling and support services, including support for adult clients in Rockhampton and surrounding regions. You will work in a team of 6 clinicians. You will have your own counselling room and there will be regular team catch ups with your colleagues as well as your Team Leader who is also located in the Rockhampton office. We are currently seeking an ongoing full-time AOD Counsellor Case Manager to join the team. Your opportunity As an AOD Counsellor Case Manager in the adult team, you’ll engage and support your clients in their ongoing management, counselling, and treatment of AOD dependency and other associated factors. You’ll advocate for them, celebrate with them when they achieve their goals, and help to develop their capacity to move forward with confidence. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing high quality engagement, assessment, counselling, case management and support services to clients. Management of a case load of clients including service coordination, referral, and advocacy to support and assist clients in achieving their goal. Engage stakeholders and build strong relationships with referring agencies to generate client appointments. One day per week, provide outreach to clients at the community hub located in Yeppoon and other nearby facilities (this is a 30-minute drive from your usual work location). This position does work with complex client presentations. The sole focus of support is AOD, but case management requires supporting clients who come with complex issues of mental health, domestic and family violence, homelessness, financial concerns, but this is not limited to the clientele. You will also have the opportunity to deliver some diversion work. This involves meeting with referred clients to provide assessments and counselling through brief interventions and psychoeducation. The gross annual salary for this role ranges between $85,120.15 and $101,787 per annum plus super and the opportunity to salary package. The salary on offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills, knowledge and experience. What you’ll bring We're looking for someone with: A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, or a related health field. Applied knowledge in contemporary evidence based AOD counselling practice, case management and intake and assessment. Proficiency in conducting assessments, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions. The ability to work well independently and as part of a team. A willingness to learn and continue to develop your professional practice. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders. Current Australian issued Drivers Licence and a valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to obtain this. Possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel and other applications.
