INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area. Animal Ranger Salary: $76,140.48 per annumClosing: Friday 7 March 2025Full Time – Temporary (To 26 May 2025)An exciting opportunity has opened up for the right person to fill an Animal Ranger position for a period of leave from 1 March – 26 May 2025. Responsibilities We are seeking applicants who embrace our animal management values and can deliver quality customer service. Working closely with the community, Animal Rangers are primarily responsible for: Providing customers with a range of animal management services and functions including the operation of the Shepparton Animal Shelter and the application of the Domestic Animal Management Plan; Promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare standards; Protecting the community and environment from feral, nuisance or wandering domestic animals and livestock; Conducting animal management education and enforcement duties in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, Councils policies, procedures and internal plans; Interpreting and applying legislation and exercising sound judgement and decision making during law enforcement activities; Demonstrating best practice animal handling skills and/or the ability to learn and apply; Being an innovative team player with the flexibility to adapt to new processes and procedures; Delivering excellent customer service and community education. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in animal management, law enforcement or veterinary nursing will be highly regarded. This role may require working outside normal business hours, and attending events or emergency management activities.
