We are looking for a talented and dedicated protected area manager to lead a team of Rangers working alongside the traditional owners of K’gari, the Butchulla People. Our rangers ensure that Queensland’s national parks, state forests, and reserves are protected, accessible, and valued by all Queenslanders. We work in partnership with the traditional owners of K’gari, the Butchulla People, local communities, and other stakeholders to contribute to the land management, recreational, and conservation outcomes across the protected area. Your planning and communication skills will be key in juggling and meeting competing priorities, while your ability to motivate and influence your team will be the key to achieving outcomes in a busy and changing environment. To be successful in the role, you will also have: Ability to build sustainable relationships with the traditional owners of K'gari, the Butchulla People, and key stakeholders in management planning. Experience in leading a team to achieve positive outcomes in operational service delivery and protected area management. Strong communication skills in mentoring and directing a team and engaging with co-management partners and stakeholder groups. High level writing and data presentation skills. Ability to manage projects relating to safety, sustainable visitation, and protected area management. Strong problem-solving and resolution skills. High level of resilience in dealing with competing priorities, emergency response, and living in a remote location.
