Job Description Full time ongoing position based in Welshpool, WA. Monday - Friday, 11am - 7pm. Extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of National standard rate. The Asbestos Analyst / Occupational Hygiene Technician role is primarily a laboratory based role, however may also include a field work component. Additionally, assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties, to achieve operational, customer and quality requirements.Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will be accountable for but not limited to: Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with sample/analysis requirements and preparation methods. Perform routine analysis, validations and project work in an efficient and effective manner. Analysis conducted will include respirable fibre counting, asbestos identification, inhalable and respirable dust (and associated airborne workplace contaminants), and diesel particulate analysis. Ensure external and internal clients’ requirements are met / exceeded. Ensure efficient utilisation of laboratory materials. Operate, calibrate and maintain equipment/instruments as required. Qualifications Entry-level position with great opportunity for career advancement. Certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques. Experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage. Experience with field work and associated record keeping will be an advantage. A proven ability to learn quickly and work under minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts. Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task. Excellent technical and time management skills. Strong attention to detail. Previous laboratory experience will be well regarded, however extensive training will be provided to the right candidate.
