The key duties of the position include: The Attorney-General's Department is seeking an APS6 Assistant Business Manager to join our team. We welcome applications from individuals who are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. The role sits within the Financial Services Branch, within the Corporate Services Division and works in close partnership with Groups within the department to manage and report on internal budgets. As an Assistant Business Manager, you will contribute to the effective and efficient management of resources across your division/s of responsibility. Your role will span a range of budget and staff management tasks, with a focus on building and maintaining strong relationships. We are looking for candidates who are customer service superstars, have a can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn. You will be required to maintain appropriate accounts on behalf of the division and provide strategic advice in relation to resource management, interrogate information, provide financial or corporate advice, and make recommendations for the appropriate management of divisional finances. To discharge your duties, you will be required to work closely with teams including senior executives within the division, the broader business manager network, and Corporate Division. Some of the key duties will include: Build and maintain strong relationships with your division/s, while developing and building the financial knowledge of the division/s. Develop and report group budgets through consultation with key stakeholders. Understand accounting processes and treatments, and the ability to implement and offer advice to key stakeholders. Follow monthly processes and liaise with your division/s to process monthly journals within tight time frames. As an Assistant Business Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure optimal resource management across your division by overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate accounts, and delivering strategic advice. Collaborate closely with the Group Business Manager to assist in providing strong reporting and advice to Divisional SES, Branch Heads, and Directors. We are looking to build on our existing strong team with someone who is: Customer service focused, with an extensive background in customer service/client facing roles. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with various levels of SES, Division heads, as well as general APS level staff and the ability to tailor messages to these levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information and accounting treatments to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to manage and meet a variety of regular and ad-hoc reporting deadlines. Ability to build internal budgets, doing monthly financial reporting, with the use of budgeting tools such as TM1, SAP, or similar systems. Tertiary qualification or significant progress towards the achievement of qualifications in commerce/accounting/business management is preferred but not essential. To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General’s Department, applicants must be Australian citizens. Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
