Job Description

This position sits within the Assurance Reporting & Insights team and is part of the Portfolio Assurance Branch. The Assistant Director is responsible for leading streams of work and managing staff in designing processes and implementing data solutions for a range of ‘assurance reporting’ products. Our assurance reporting showcases the extent and performance of the Government’s digital investments under the state of assurance in the Investment Oversight Framework. This includes the Major Digital Projects Report, Assurance Traffic Light Report, insights and data analytics for Escalation Reports, Digital Investment Overview and Integrated Digital Investment Plan. Please note: This role may require interstate travel from time to time. The key duties of the position are: Identify and leverage expertise across the Division as well as the DTA more broadly as part of understanding assurance reporting requirements. This includes by developing well-informed and carefully tested strategic insights and advice to feed into planning, decision-making and delivery of the DTA’s assurance functions. Participate in activities to elicit stakeholder reporting and knowledge and process requirements and then work to meet these requirements in collaboration with other teams in the agency by producing insightful and appropriately tailored analytical and knowledge assets as well assurance reporting products. Lead the preparation of supporting guidance and collateral for agencies to assist them in understanding and effectively adopting the change in processes and systems associated with implementing the Investment Oversight Framework. Develop, implement and measure agency change and communications strategies and plans associated with assurance reporting products in consultation with key stakeholders including senior executives and agency contacts. Work with and provide advice to the Director of Assurance Reporting & Insights and the Branch Manager to define, develop, scope and deliver system-level initiatives and projects. This includes assisting in translating and scoping DTA priorities and strategic drivers into the team and Branch-level work programs. Work with the Director to support the recruitment, performance and development of the team. This includes supporting procurement required to engage specialist expertise where required. Foster productive and respectful working relationships with key central agency partners, including by attending central agency forums and participating in strategic relationship management planning. Contribute to structuring, prioritising and driving the delivery of the Assurance Reporting team’s work program in alignment with the broader direction of the Branch, Division and Agency. This includes upholding quality standards and driving towards delivery of required outcomes. Support the Branch Manager in the preparation of reporting and communications with the Senior Executive and in fostering a positive team culture and environment. Contribute to team planning, coordination, and workflow management including by undertaking the role of sprint lead. The role of sprint lead for the Branch rotates across teams.
