About the team The Chief Finance Officer’s Division is made up of four branches. They are: Financial Management External Budgets and Costings Financial and Shared Services Strategy, Performance, Program Delivery and Procurement The Financial Management Branch provides a range of financial and operational services which enable the department to deliver its strategic objectives in a professional and cost-effective manner. We are recruiting for two specific streams: Internal Budgets Finance Business Partners Our ideal candidate Our ideal candidate: is highly motivated with a strong focus on building high performing teams and achieving outcomes. has strong stakeholder management and communications skills. has highly developed analytical skills, with the demonstrated ability to be solutions focused, and to provide balanced analysis and advice. can demonstrate experience in reforming processes for day-to-day workflows to improve efficiency and delivery of team outputs. has demonstrated experience in strategic management accounting in a government or commercial environment. is experienced with the Australian Government’s resource management framework and budget process. can demonstrate experience using a complex financial management information system (for example, Tech1). has intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (particularly Excel) and TM1. possesses a Bachelor degree (or higher) in commerce, accounting, finance, business or a related field, or is progressing toward a relevant qualification. What you will do The Assistant Manager, Internal Budgets manages the delivery of effective, responsive and consistent budgetary financial advice and analysis to the department to support informed decision-making. The Assistant Manager, Finance Business Partner manages the delivery of effective, responsive and consistent financial analysis and advice to our client division(s) to support the best use of government resources. Key functions of both roles include: Actively partnering with key stakeholders (Senior Executives and Managers) to gain an understanding of their business, and facilitate cooperation, trust and credibility. Developing and coordinating budgets and forecasts based on the operational needs of divisions, including ASL and FTE. Preparing and presenting timely financial reports to the Senior Executive, CFO and other stakeholders, with meaningful analysis that speaks to performance, key risks and opportunities. Managing and supporting staff in the delivery of professional, high quality, timely and customer focused financial services. Establishing and maintaining internal controls that will withstand the scrutiny of internal and external audit, and ensuring satisfactory resolution of any audit findings or recommendations relating to budget management, reporting and controls. Contributing to process improvement activities to support the consistent and efficient delivery of financial services. Delivery of other financial services as directed. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
