About the team The Internal Communication and Creative Services team is a multi-disciplinary team within the Communications Branch. Our team supports departmental priorities by developing timely, accessible and engaging content delivered through digital channels, news articles, executive communication products and all-staff events. We also manage the department’s intranet content and provide graphic design and audio-visual services for internal and external audiences. The opportunity We are looking for an Assistant Manager to lead our intranet sub-team, the key custodians of content on iCentral, the department’s intranet. They ensure information is current, engaging, usable and accessible. This role drives a critical internal content platform and works with communication experts and internal stakeholders to deliver engaging and user-centred intranet content. You will work across the department’s broad remit, including science, technology, manufacturing, resources, building and construction. Our ideal candidate We are seeking a communication professional who: has excellent interpersonal and communication skills. can write accessible content that aligns with the Australian Government style manual. has experience in content management systems, specifically Sharepoint. has excellent attention to detail. has strong organisational skills. can add value and can make strategic connections across the department. works well in a team and is willing to help others where needed. works collaboratively to establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders. Desirable skills and experience: experience managing team projects, workflow and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. experience managing intranet content design and delivery through Sharepoint. an understanding of government accessibility requirements and writing to the standard of the Australian Government style manual. experience in service design, UX research or UX design. What you will do As the Assistant Manager you will: lead a small team to successfully deliver and maintain the department’s intranet, iCentral. drive the strategic development of iCentral, delivered through the SharePoint platform, and supporting tools. work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the department, branch and section to deliver engaging content that is fit-for-purpose and accessible. drive best-practice content design, including style, tone and WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance. use data and analytics to monitor performance and drive improvements. oversee and drive compliance with iCentral governance. write and edit iCentral content. drive platform enhancements that seek to improve the user experience. contribute to inputs and broader team management as part of the Internal Communications and Creative Services leadership team. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
