Emma Ruse Productions are looking for an assistant producer to support the delivery of a number of developments and productions over Spring/Summer, culminating in the Edinburgh Fringe 2025. Emma Ruse Productions aims to produce new theatre within Scotland and beyond, with a focus on accessibility, transparency and fair working conditions. There is a focus on stories that are told through a feminist or queer lens, and on work that supports underrepresented voices. Emma directs some of this work themself, and produces the work of others. The Role: This is a freelance contract, working 1 day a week from w/b 21st April to w/b 25th August 2025. The role will be a mix of remote and in-person working, most in-person work will take place in Edinburgh. Responsibilities will primarily cover: Administration support (incl. contracting, liaising with venues and team members, budget support, and booking travel/accommodation) Marketing support (supporting the marketing & PR campaigns for the productions, managing the flyering team, supporting social media) The successful candidate will: Have producing experience, even if this is self-led. Have experience of what is needed to run a successful theatre marketing campaign, even if this is self-led. Have experience of working with an array of different teams across a number of different projects, even if this is self-led. Have experience of the Edinburgh Fringe in some capacity. Be based in easy commuting distance of Edinburgh (with ability to travel to Glasgow or Perth on occasion). Be interested in a producing career in Scottish theatre. Be interested in making theatre ethically, with access and care at the forefront. The fee for this role is £2,660 (£140/day, 1 day per week for 19 weeks). Where travel is required to work outside of Edinburgh, this will be covered by the company. We are hopeful the successful candidate will be able to increase their hours during the Edinburgh Fringe, although funding for this increase is pending.
