The Department of Health and Aged Care is seeking talented, adaptable professionals with strong leadership and influencing skills for state manager roles across Australia. These roles are ongoing and are located in Commonwealth state offices in: NSW-ACT – based in Surry Hills Sydney. VIC-TAS – based in Melbourne VIC. SA-WA – based in Adelaide SA or Perth WA. Key Responsibilities: The State Manager will be a highly motivated leader with outstanding organisational change experience coupled with strategic vision. You will support the Ageing and Aged Care Group and broader department through stewardship – driving change in the aged care system to improve outcomes. Stewardship is a critical capability in our staff as is nurturing capability and improvement in the systems we steward. In addition, you will contribute to the implementation of aged care reforms ensuring the highest quality care is provided to older Australians. The State Manager is responsible for: Leading the implementation of stewardship through building capability and knowledge about the aged care system and supporting the public interest now and into the future, by understanding the long-term impacts. Directly managing a branch, across multiple locations: NSW-ACT – Surry Hills, Canberra, Dubbo, Coffs Harbour, Wollongong. VIC-TAS – Melbourne, Hobart, Bendigo, Launceston. SA-WA – Adelaide, Perth, Port Augusta, Bunbury. Actively collaborating with and improving the linkages between the Local Network and policy and program areas in the delivery of health and aged care programs at the state level. Representing the department in high-level discussions and negotiations with key stakeholders, including building and managing ongoing relationships with state government, peak bodies, and local service providers. Contributing to a range of complex policy, program and regulatory management issues, including implementation of major government reforms. Leading an emergency response locally to assist the management of emergencies impacting aged care including severe weather events such as bushfires, flooding, and public health risks such as COVID-19 outbreaks.
