Position Number: 0065118Location: SouthbankRole type: Part-time (0.6 FTE); Fixed-term 3 March 2025 to 30 November 2025, with possibility of 12-month extensionFaculty: Fine Arts & MusicDepartment: Melbourne Conservatorium of MusicSalary: Level A – $83,468 – $113,262 p.a. plus 17% super About the Role Step into a dynamic, education-focused role at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of music career development, entrepreneurship, and engagement activities. This position will primarily manage the programming and delivery of the IgniteLAB program, continuing its successful evolution as a flexible supplement to the curriculum that significantly enhances student career development experiences and outcomes — from managing the Grants Program to coordinating Individual Career Coaching Sessions and curating accessible online resources. Working under the supervision of the Lecturer in Music Entrepreneurship, you will collaborate with selected subject coordinators to identify and implement opportunities for integrating career pathway presentations into appropriate settings in the curriculum. Alongside your work with IgniteLAB, the position will contribute to the Conservatorium’s teaching programs by coordinating and delivering subjects at Honours level, with materials and guidance provided by the supervisor. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with the Conservatorium Director, Associate Directors, and faculty staff to align initiatives and drive continuous growth. Your responsibilities will include: Lead IgniteLAB program delivery, management, and strategic planning, in alignment with priorities and resourcing set by the Conservatorium Director, and in consultation with the supervisor and relevant stakeholders and partners. Sustain partnerships with key industry stakeholders to support student internship and external mentoring opportunities, and additional forms of engagement. Develop new partnerships as needed. Manage rollout of the IgniteLAB Grants Program to foster and support innovative student-designed projects, consulting a selection panel of relevant staff members; support grant winners in implementing and completing their projects. Deliver a program of student career planning presentations and individual coaching sessions, either within the curriculum (e.g. in occasional lectures or workshops in specific subjects) or as a supplement to the curriculum, broadly accessible to Conservatorium students. Collaborate with academic and professional staff to generate synergies between IgniteLAB programming and diverse aspects of community engagement. Coordinate and teach the second semester Honours subject Music Internship (MUSI 40091) and co-teach the first semester subject Music Management and Enterprise (MUSI 40092). Coordinate and teach the six-week unit Freelance and Portfolio Careers for second-year Jazz & Improvisation students, twice in first semester and once in second semester. Additional contributions to teaching in music career development and arts entrepreneurship may be included, by mutual agreement. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a dynamic professional with experience in music career development and entrepreneurship, ideally within an educational or industry setting. You have a proven track record in delivering career development programs, building partnerships with internal and industry stakeholders, and a passion for mentoring students. Strong project coordination, organisational skills, and a collaborative approach are essential, along with a passion for innovative, future-focused training in the performing arts. You will also have: A relevant educational qualification and a record of experience fostering music career development and entrepreneurship in an education or industry setting. Previous experience with music entrepreneurship and career development training and program delivery within an education or industry setting. Demonstrated experience or capacity for successful coordination and delivery of the assigned subjects. Demonstrated capacity to initiate, manage, and maintain partnerships and collaborations with internal stakeholders and external partner organisations. Demonstrated expertise in organisational and project coordination tasks and demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet project deadlines. Demonstrated ability to mentor tertiary students, through respectful and empowering communications and appropriate advice.
