About the opportunities Senior Ecologists and Project Managers | Multiple roles available What you’ll own: Manage ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, directing flora and fauna field surveys, through to commercial delivery and offset determination. Show off your expertise in the EPBC Act and knowledge of NSW environmental legislation. Leverage your networking skills to build and maintain strong relationships with clients across renewable energy, infrastructure, government, defence, residential, resources and aviation sectors. Lead and mentor our Ecologists in their development as field ecologists, project management and client liaison on their journey to being well rounded consultants. Preparation of technical reports, field surveys, impact assessments, analytics, approvals and more. Assist the Tender Team with the preparation of submissions and proposals, utilising your technical writing expertise and fee estimates. Why you’re a good match: BAM Accreditation under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, and/or Natural Resource Management or equivalent. Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience in a relevant field of ecology or environmental science. Experienced in navigating Commonwealth and State legislation, particularly the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 . Working knowledge of consulting practice plus extensive project management skills. Demonstrated experience in preparing, submitting, and managing Biodiversity Stewardship Assessment Reports (BSARs), Biodiversity Conservation Assessment reports (BCARs) and Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDARs). Previous Team Leading or Management experience is required if expressing interest for a Team Leader opportunity. Ability to plan and co-ordinate multi-team field trips, including in remote areas. Strong flora and fauna identification skills and the ability and willingness to undertake field work when required. Current drivers licence, White Card and First Aid Certificate. What you’ll own: As an Ecologist, you will conduct ecological field surveys for stewardship, development and offset sites. Be the knowledge expert in field ecology related activities, including coordinating and delivery multi-team field surveys. Opportunities may arise for you to work across the greater NSW region and Australia where your skills are required, and depending on your achievement or expectations, your role with Biodiversity Australia could have significant long term career growth. Why you’re a good match: Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, and/or Natural Resource Management or equivalent. 3 years postgraduate experience in a relevant field is desirable, however graduates will also be considered. Experience managing ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, undertake field surveys, and through to commercial delivery. Experience maintaining professional relationships with clients. Sound knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and their applications, as well as relevant industry standards and practices. Knowledge of consulting practices. Demonstrated experience in preparing, submitting, and managing specialist ecological assessment reports and management plans. You must have the ability and willingness to undertake field work when required, including overnight trips. Current drivers licence, White Card and First Aid Certificate.
