Leading a large team of Pilots, the Base Performance Manager will be responsible for managing the strategic and day-to-day operational elements of Pilots for a designated base. Primarily, the role will manage day-to-day operations as well as driving a performance culture by developing a high performing team and an engaged workforce in their allocated Bases. The role will lead face-to-face communication with crew, driving an engaged and high performing pilot base. This role will also work with the Base Manager in developing and implementing local projects that support change and an efficient operation. Role and responsibilities include: Lead a large Pilot workforce within an allocated Base Driving an inclusive, safe, and engaged workplace culture Manage Pilots in respect to leave and attendance management, scheduling, grievance management, case management, and overall performance of the Pilot group Ensuring compliance within the Pilot Enterprise Agreements Manage resource requirements, financial success, operational, and customer excellence Leading and driving projects and change and transformations and initiatives in your local Base to meet desired outcomes Manage engagement and recognition strategy in local base, align with Qantas Group engagement strategy Maintain superior industry, market, and regulatory knowledge to ensure the best decisions are made Develop a robust performance standards strategy which underpins a high-performance culture Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy To be successful in this role you will need to have: Strong people leadership experience including demonstrated experience building high performing teams and effectively managing people and industrial-related matters including misconduct, grievances, and employee fitness for work The ability to work in a complex and changing operational environment, leading operational teams Strong communication skills including highly developed negotiation and influencing skills Demonstrated sound practical judgement and the ability to drive continuous improvement through the development and implementation of innovative solutions Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders Efficiently manage competing priorities and have flexibility, agility, and resilience You will naturally be detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking, analytical ability, innovative problem solving, and research skills. You will need to be resourceful and have the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation. Tertiary qualified to degree level or equivalent industry experience Highly desirable - understanding of operational Policy and Procedures, Safety Regulations, knowledge and ability to interpret complex awards and agreements and their interoperability with the operational environment Why Qantas?
