Identified role open to people with strong knowledge and experience working with First Nations People About the role The Branch Manager National Remote Services is responsible for: Leading, enabling and motivating a team to fulfil their roles to a high standard – ensuring that team members are equipped with the necessary resources and support. Driving and enabling nationally consistent provision of the NDIA’s Remote Servicing model, including monitoring delivery and reporting on activities and outcomes. Coordinating and delivering local problem-solving activities and integrated cross-government initiatives to improve participant experience and access to services in remote and very remote (RVR) Australia. Maintaining relationships and managing contracts with RVR service partners and other government entities. Shaping RVR strategies and service delivery processes at a national level and providing advice and expertise on RVR servicing to support NDIA operations. The Branch Manager National Remote Services is an SES Band 1 position, reporting to the General Manager SA, WA, NT and Remote Division. The Branch Manager has 6 direct reports and responsibility for a Branch of approximately 40 staff located across Australia. The National Remote Services Branch supports the delivery of the NDIS in RVR communities across Australia and works to address gaps and barriers to the delivery of services to the most remote NDIS participants. This includes a focus on improved services to First Nations participants. As an identified role, applicants will need to explicitly demonstrate an understanding and commitment to cultural safety, particularly in their approach to working with First Nations peoples. This role is ideally performed from Darwin, for co-location with the largest cohort of staff and leadership team. Individual circumstances will be considered for the right candidate. However, leaders may be required to travel frequently or relocate to be eligible for this role. About you You have strong, demonstrated experience working with RVR communities, and a well-developed understanding of the barriers that impact people in RVR locations; and ideas for how we can address them. You have a proven ability to lead through change to embed new operating models – both within your direct team and in those beyond your direct control – with an eye to continuing adaptations in the context of significant, ongoing reforms to the NDIS. You possess senior operational leadership experience and excellent people skills. You will use these to lead and get the best from a very diverse team with a primary role of driving and supporting operational activities. You have a track record of delivering results. You also hold strong strategic thinking skills to engage with the systems-design work that our National Remote Services Branch is continuing to evolve. As this is an identified position, you will have a strong understanding of issues affecting First Nations people, cultural competency, and a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations people.
