Category Management Specialist - Logistics Country/Region: AU State: WA City: Perth Job ID: 9764 Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people. Roster: Monday to Friday. 12 month Fixed Term Contract. (maternity leave cover) The primary purpose of the Category Specialist is to provide specialist procurement advice on Fortescue's logistics category to assist stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage contract arrangements to effectively meet business objectives. This role will also assist with category strategy development and implementation of strategic procurement activities supporting Fortescue’s logistics categories (including general freight, oversize freight and fuel cartage transport services). Key Responsibilities Contract management - ensure performance and cost outcomes are achieved under Fortescue’s key logistics contracts (including KPI, rise & fall and claims management duties). Supplier relationship management - deliver value through effective management of key supplier relationships. Category management and strategic sourcing - develop category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue business objectives and manage the end-to-end sourcing process. Negotiation – applying an effective negotiation process and an understanding of each party’s position to engage with suppliers on high risk and/or high value contracts. Governance and risk management - ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk. Analysis & reporting - effective analysis and reporting of relevant data at all stages of the procurement lifecycle as it relates to logistics contracts (e.g. freight supply base market analysis). Partnering - create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities. Qualifications and Experience Demonstrate an alignment to all of Fortescue’s values. Significant logistics or resource sector experience, preferably in a contracts and procurement/supply chain team. Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain/logistics, commerce, law or similar. Effective writing skills and attention to detail (e.g. drafting concise recommendations, contract conditions, contract correspondence and variations). Effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently manage priorities. Show a level of resilience to challenging circumstances. Well-developed lateral thinking/problem-solving ability.
