The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Category Specialist professional to join our team for a 12 months fixed term basis. As a Category Specialist within Major Projects, you will be providing effective and efficient procurement management of equipment, materials and consumables within Major Projects across the WesCEF business. Reporting to the Category Manager of Major Projects, you will be joining a supportive and dynamic team of experienced procurement and category management professionals. You will thrive in a busy environment, working in close partnership with our businesses to deliver value through strong commercial outcomes in accordance with our business values and objectives, procedural and statutory requirements. Responsibilities include: Understanding and meeting customer requirements, as well as developing partnering relationships with internal customers. Develop, prioritise and execute forward-thinking strategic sourcing, category and Supplier and Contractor management plans. Support project and equipment procurement, including supplier prequalification and order placement. Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders in drafting high-risk, complex scopes of work and specifications. Lead concurrent sourcing processes and contract formation activities such as RFXs, commercial assessment and negotiations, risk apportionment/contract drafting etc. for delivery of tenders. Establish and maintain effective Supplier and Contractor management processes including tracking of spend and progress, commercial communications, change orders/contracts, close-off including rating assessment and supplier relationships management (SRM). Lead supplier expediting and dispute management, including NCR and defect management. Ensure category management activities comply with WesCEF’s values, in/external standards, licences and regulations. Facilitate, lead and engage with internal customers to deliver sound Supplier and Contractor management outcomes consistent with WesCEF’s values and processes. About You Relevant qualification in related discipline e.g. Business, Law or Engineering. Previous experience in a similar role with commercial analysis and management skills. Strong understanding of Category Management methodologies and Strategic Sourcing skills in an industrial environment. Strong relationship management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of procurement modules of Oracle, eBusiness, JDE, SAP or similar.
