About the role The Category – Specialist (Senior Contracts Advisor) plays a key role in managing contract sourcing and providing commercial support at Cowal Gold Operation. This includes developing strategies, overseeing tendering processes, negotiating agreements, and managing contracts to ensure optimal outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Executing agile and strategic sourcing activities, and assessing insourcing or outsourcing opportunities. Drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts, including terms, KPIs, and service-level agreements, while ensuring timely actions before contract expiry. Monitoring market trends, identifying new opportunities, and aligning procurement strategies with business needs. Providing leadership in procurement and commercial negotiations, while fostering strong stakeholder and supplier relationships. Ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, recommending and approving agreements or variations, and addressing performance, disputes, or contractual issues. Overseeing contractor performance, conducting reviews, and ensuring delivery of agreed outcomes and KPIs. This role requires expertise in strategic planning, contract management, and supplier engagement to achieve sustainable commercial success. About you To be successful in this role you will required to provide an agile and timely service to fast-paced business requirements with a view toward the development and application of category management practices. Tertiary qualifications associated with Procurement; Business, Commerce or extensive experience in developing and managing medium to large scale sourcing functions and contract negotiations. 3 years previous experience in a similar role in the resources or heavy industrial sector. Demonstrated experience in outcome delivery with internal stakeholders and external suppliers and vendors. Complex Sourcing and Negotiation Strategies, and the application of these within negotiations, and subsequent contract creation. Demonstrated understanding of the mining industry or heavy industrial sector is preferred with site-based experience highly desirable. The ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including written and presentation skills and a capacity to develop viable business cases. Knowledge of the business drivers and issues facing a mid-tier Gold company, and the ability to assist in translating these into requirements for inclusion in tender documents. Proven ability to work effectively in a complex, political matrix management environment. Inherent ability to use effective negotiating and influencing skills in a consultative and constructive manner. Work effectively in a team assisting colleagues to complete tasks and achieve team KPI’s and timelines in accordance with policies and procedures.
