See yourself in our team Retail Technology is responsible for applying technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank and Bankwest Retail – from product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. Within Retail Technology, you’ll be part of the Customer Service Channel Technology unit and Self Service experience crew, which owns the Gen AI chatbot and Voice Bot products. The team is responsible for delivering efficient experiences and capabilities to our customers through various channels such as digital, branch, and IVR. Our Software team is behind Australia’s primary banking app and Netbank, and developed Australia's first AI chatbot in a financial organisation. We’re interested in hearing from people who As a Chapter Lead Engineering, you will provide expert advice related to technology, people management, hiring, contributing to the architecture roadmap, and leadership guidance to drive excellence. You will also play a role in steering the organisation by contributing to the tech strategy and determining which problems to solve. You will bring a blend of people management and technical knowledge to this team, shaping its evolution while serving as a Technical Leader for your squad. Highly experienced in full stack software engineering Build, lead, and inspire a cross-functional team of engineers across multiple disciplines (Software, Quality, Platform) while fostering an engineering culture of excellence Troubleshoot complex technical issues involving multiple system components Contribute to CommBank’s Engineering Management Practice by coaching and mentoring engineers and raising the standard across the organisation Communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working that align with global best practices Drive delivery and operational excellence, supporting teams responsible for mission-critical production services with diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies Encourage risk-taking and constructive challenge while growing diverse and inclusive teams Establish new working methods and advocate for new technology approaches, understanding the architectural integration of new software solutions Drive the Quality strategy with “Shift Left” by integrating Quality and Software Engineering Work in a DevSecOps Model and help drive adoption within the teams Tech Skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks and are looking for experience or exposure with the below: Technologies like C#, .Net 8, Node, Web APIs, Kafka, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Aurora DB Modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Next.js Large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technology Public cloud engineering (AWS/Azure) and using Cloud native capabilities Familiar with DevSecOps best practices with CI/CD tools, observability, and processes for the Software Delivery Lifecycle Working with us Whether you’re focused on customer service, data-driven, or creatively inclined, a career with CommBank offers opportunities.
