What the day will look like: Reporting to the Chief Counsel - Pacific, this critical role acts as the Head of Compliance, Australia, managing all duties and responsibilities of Legal & Compliance as they pertain to the Aon Australia and Papua New Guinea Businesses. The role is responsible for the management of a team of 7 compliance professionals based in Australia. Other key responsibilities include: Aligning the compliance strategy with business strategy, legal and regulatory requirements. Deploying resources to discharge Legal & Compliance’s mandate to protect the assets, brand, and reputation of Aon in Aon clients’ best interests. Leading the Australian compliance team by setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing ongoing feedback. Maintaining Aon Group Policies relating to reporting of violations and concerns and providing management with relevant metrics. Overseeing the assessment of new laws, regulations, and trends in Australia and PNG and their applicability and implementation to Aon’s operations to ensure that all relevant risks are fully identified and managed. Conducting annual and periodic compliance risk assessments to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements and validate assessment results with Aon Group Compliance, local management, and governance committees. Ensuring the corporate governance system operates to ensure the Aon Australia and PNG businesses are compliant with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements. Ensuring that the Australian Compliance team refines, implements, and maintains a fit-for-purpose Regulatory Change Framework. Identifying, participating, and leading compliance projects in Australia and PNG as they arise within defined scope and timeframe and in accordance with agreed cost and quality and other KPI targets. How this opportunity is different: The team has expertise across law, regulation, internal policy, audit, and assurance and operates at a group level across the Pacific to ensure that we are consistent, effective, and visible as an Aon Service Partner. Skills and experience that will lead to success: Operational compliance management experience with exposure to financial services including general or life insurance, insurance broking, superannuation, and/or wealth management. Tertiary degree or equivalent in law, finance, business, or commerce. Proven ability to manage and motivate a team. Demonstrated capacity for commercial-oriented problem solving. Process improvement oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work. A proven track record in regulatory change in the financial services environment gained with demonstrated experience in regulatory change management. Ability to draft detailed, logical, well-explained, and comprehensive decisions and explain complex compliance, regulatory, and legal concepts in plain English.
