Job Description

About the role An exciting early-intervention position within the Student Wellbeing and Education Program (S.WE.E.P.), the Child and Family Worker will aim to support the voices and needs of young people to navigate wellbeing challenges in primary school and out-of-school-hours education environments. The purpose of this position is to ensure students’ well-being, attendance, behaviour, and emotional and social development are supported to help them actively engage in their education. The Child and Family Worker will have a focus on early intervention and will have to build relationships with students, school staff, parents(s) or care giver(s), out-of-school-hours educator staff and the community to help students prepare themselves to make a positive contribution to society, their school community, and in their adult life. Key components of this role are to provide evidence-based support to targeted young people/students 5-12, through 1-2-1 support, goal setting, family case work, targeted program delivery to improve wellbeing, whole-school approaches to support holistic wellbeing and engagement, provide opportunities for connection to the local community, other services and parents, and increase engagement of students with education and positive social relationships. The role requires exceptional planning skills and the ability to effectively facilitate group programs. The position requires cultural sensitivity, strengths-based focus and utmost confidentiality with a willingness to go outside one's comfort zone to enable a better outcome for the young people attending the school. Key Responsibilities: Provide evidence-based and targeted individual support Develop, deliver, and evaluate targeted early intervention programs Develop wellbeing strategies and programs relevant to the school and out-of-school-hours education context Support engagement with education and learning, with a focus on addressing wellbeing needs Engage in case work when working with young people and/or their families experiencing complex challenges Involve teachers, parents, carers and other relevant stakeholders in supporting young people Work within a school’s system to effectively enhance wellbeing-for-education servicing Staff the Youth Zone drop-in centre and out-of-hours education spaces as provided, to continue targeted intervention support About You Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or Equivalent Qualification Minimum 1 year’s experience working with Children and Young People with complex needs, specifically 5-12 years of age. Experience in delivering targeted programs to young people and with strength in managing social issues/anxiety. Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, people from multicultural communities, people with a disability diverse families, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those living with complex mental health conditions Experience working with families in a child-centric way Experience in child protection, mental health interventions or family case work highly desirable Understanding of the Australian school system About 3Bridges 3Bridges is a dedicated For Impact organisation that aims to enhance the well-being of individuals across all life stages.
