Job Description - Claims Specialist, Property & Construction (13002200D20250103) Location: Sydney, NSW / Melbourne, Victoria As part of the AXA XL Australia branch, the key Claims function mission is to proactively manage claims from notification to settlement, providing high-quality customer service and reaching effective outcomes in the most cost-effective and profitable way. Our experienced Claims professionals use their specialized expertise to handle even the most complex claims. As a Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in AXA XL's claims for the Property team, handling a wide variety of Property and Construction claims. Expect to work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and to interact and collaborate with Underwriting and Operations teams. Together, you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively. This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime. Essential Responsibilities Proactively manage a portfolio of Property Claims in accordance with AXA XL’s Claims-handling Principles. Using strong technical and interpersonal skills, handle complex and challenging claims. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with insureds, loss adjusters, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel. Collaborate with Claims Manager and Practice Leaders on large and complex losses to achieve optimum outcomes for the client and AXA XL. Manage claims expenses thoughtfully and proactively. Participate in Quality Review Process. Work with underwriters in policy review and drafting, participate in external marketing and business development activities. Produce internal reporting in support of best practices and reserving guidelines. Effectively manage, track, and report on portfolio performance. You will report to the Property Claims Manager, Australia. Required Skills and Abilities Extensive property claims or similar experience essential (e.g., first party, crisis management, property claims adjuster). Strong understanding of insurance principles, policies, and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communication with stakeholders. Results-oriented approach with urgency and ability to prioritize multiple work streams. Continuous improvement mindset, eager to learn and improve technical skills. Client-service oriented, focused on delivering value throughout the claims experience. Strong ethics, handling responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.
