To support the Australian Government, the NIAA regional presence is focused on place-based practice and working in partnership to develop and implement tailored local solutions. APS 4 Engagement Client Service Officer This position works across the North Queensland Region which encompasses spectacular landscapes, beautiful scenery, and vibrant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. The position represents the Agency to engage with community, stakeholders, partners, and government agencies focused on the advancement of First Nations Australians. The Engagement Client Service Officer role works directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to assist with developing policy and program responses that address local needs and priorities. The role requires cultural and technical skills to be effective in community engagement in a way that ensures the community voice is accurately heard. The key responsibilities for the role will include: Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver defined services and outcomes. Assist clients and stakeholders to access, navigate, or interpret services offered by NIAA. Complete personal work allocations and aid other team members to ensure team performance goals are met and quality is maintained. Undertake research and analysis tasks and contribute to reports on team activities. Prepare draft documentation for review by team leadership, including briefs, communication products, and reports. Participate in team forums and represent the team in branch forums and committees. APS 4 Regional Corporate Support Officer This position delivers services in support of the North Queensland Region and corporate activities. This includes a range of corporate services to allow for the seamless administration of regional work programs and day-to-day operations. The position will require you to be a trusted and reliable partner that delivers valued advice and services to enable a high-performing NIAA. You will work in a professional, respectful, and accountable way to deliver corporate services to better support outcomes for the North Queensland Region. The key responsibilities for the role will include: Following systems and procedures in place for services offered including accommodation and facilities management, asset management, contract and service agreement monitoring and management, accounts processing, and stakeholder management. Complete personal work allocations and aid other team members to ensure team performance goals are met and quality is maintained. Identifying issues with the activities the role has responsibility for, such as keeping the leadership team informed of these and suggesting ideas to resolve these matters. Working collaboratively with business areas and individuals to deliver services to stakeholders. Seeking expert advice and guidance of others to address complex or unusual scenarios, resolve issues, and deliver quality outcomes. Our Ideal Candidate APS 4 Engagement Client Service Officer We are seeking results-oriented individuals who possess engagement, communication, and time-management skills. Our ideal candidates will know how to work in partnership with communities to produce high-quality outcomes. The candidates will be self-starters and consistently relied upon by supervisors, including the Regional Manager. Our ideal candidate will have a safety-first approach when travelling and working in remote and/or isolated settings; remote travel will be required in this role including via vehicle, boat (ferry), and small planes, and overnight stays. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following competencies: Stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain internal and external relations, including providing advice and education to stakeholders, colleagues, and communities. Respond to written, telephone, and online requests for more complex information from partners using a range of internal programs. Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide quality information in a clear and concise manner to targeted audiences and the ability to assist with drafting advice briefs. Maintain an understanding of local community needs and the services being provided within the community by government and non-government organisations. Organisational skills, including adapting to change, working with limited direction, and managing competing priorities. APS 4 Regional Corporate Support Officer The North Queensland Region is seeking professional and approachable individuals who possess stakeholder management, communication, and time-management skills. In addition to the above, all candidates are required to understand the key issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Applicants will need to demonstrate cultural competency, including: High level of understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, cultures, and history (ideally with direct experience working with Indigenous stakeholders). Understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
