About the role As a key member of CatholicCare’s Risk & Compliance Team, the Clinical Governance Coordinator operates under general guidance from senior staff but requires a high level of expertise and skill to achieve outcomes aligned with the organisation’s goals. Key responsibilities include: Oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the CatholicCare Clinical Governance Framework across the organisation, ensuring compliance with best practices, legislation, and regulatory requirements; Regularly review and report clinical incidents and risks identified in Riskman for CatholicCare committees, as well as fulfill legislative and external reporting obligations; Provide feedback and support to enhance system effectiveness, fostering continuous improvement; Coordinate and conduct internal auditing activities, while supporting preparations for and responses to external compliance audits and risk management processes; Develop, review, and deliver training programs to staff to ensure understanding and adherence to the Clinical Governance Framework. This role is pivotal in ensuring CatholicCare’s commitment to quality, safety, and compliance, while driving innovation and excellence in service delivery. Core Competencies Extensive expertise in clinical risk management, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in care delivery; Substantial level of proficiency in clinical data analysis, with the ability to interpret trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement using clinical data, incident reports, and audits; High level of skill and demonstrated ability in conducting clinical audits, evaluating care practices, and creating actionable plans to address gaps or non-compliance; High level of ability to develop, review, and implement policies and procedures that align with regulatory and governance standards; High-level proficiency in preparing clear and comprehensive reports for Boards, senior leadership, and regulatory bodies, ensuring accountability and transparency in clinical governance; High level of knowledge of regulatory systems and standards, including the Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Practice Standards, and Human Services Quality Framework; and Sound knowledge of contemporary continuous quality improvement practices. Qualifications and Experience Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration or a relevant degree (e.g. health administration, public health) coupled with substantial experience in clinical governance, risk, and compliance; Experience in clinical governance, risk management, or quality assurance within healthcare settings; In-depth understanding of the aged care assessment processes; Knowledge of the aged care system or NDIS system in Australia. The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position. All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
