Coorparoo Community Care Unit are looking for a Clinical Nurse to join their team. The Clinical Nurse role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert assessment, planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of CCU residents with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards. A Community Care Unit (CCU) is an accommodation facility for adult mental health consumers who are in recovery but require additional support and life skills to successfully transition to independent community living. About the Role The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert assessment, planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of CCU residents with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of Addiction and Mental Health specialist nursing care with a focus on mental health rehabilitation. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for delivering quality nursing care at an advanced level that requires a broad developing knowledge in professional issues for consumers who experience complex mental health issues. The Clinical Nurse promotes professional standards of practice and conduct and is responsible for achievement of unit goals and standards utilising contemporary evidence-based interventions. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the physical health care monitoring and interventions for their allocated consumers and supports the multidisciplinary team in the monitoring of physical health care needs. The Clinical Nurse plays a pivotal role in providing in person support for the attainment of consumers goals including the development of independent living skills. CNs are expected to provide leadership for CCU nursing staff; this will include role modelling the purpose and expectations of a nurse working in mental health rehabilitation. Delegation of tasks will be a daily task required of the CN role. The position provides a contact and a source of professional advice for care providers and other relevant clinical stakeholders on mental health service delivery, comprehensive assessments, risk management and Mental Health Act 2016 legislation.
