About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Commercial Credit Manager to lead the development and execution of our commercial credit strategy within the auto and equipment finance market. This is a newly created position offering a unique opportunity to re-shape the future of our commercial lending operations. You will play a critical role in refining credit policy & risk appetite, and building a high-performing underwriting team. We are looking for a strong leader with exceptional relationship management skills and a proven track record in commercial underwriting in the auto and equipment finance sector. What you'll be doing Credit Policy & Strategy: Refine, implement, and maintain comprehensive credit policies and procedures for commercial auto and equipment finance, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall risk appetite and strategic objectives. Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Oversee the assessment of creditworthiness of commercial applicants, ensuring accurate and timely underwriting decisions. Provide guidance and support to the underwriting team on complex transactions. Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing commercial underwriting team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Stakeholder Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including equipment finance brokers, internal sales teams, and senior management. Effectively communicate credit decisions and policy updates. Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the commercial lending portfolio, identifying trends and potential risks. Recommend and implement strategies to mitigate losses and optimise portfolio performance. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve credit underwriting processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes within the auto and equipment finance industry. Provide insights and recommendations to inform credit policy and strategy. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on key credit metrics, portfolio performance, and risk exposures to senior management. Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial underwriting, with a focus on auto and equipment finance. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial underwriting team leadership or management role within the same industry. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with equipment finance brokers and other key stakeholders. Deep understanding of credit risk assessment principles and techniques. Strong knowledge of the auto and equipment finance market, including legal and regulatory requirements. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. What's life like at Plenti?
