Community Engagement & Participation Coordinator Full-time Exciting opportunity to be part of our NEW headspace service in Tasmania! Full-time ongoing position, offering flexible working conditions EACH is thrilled to announce the establishment of our new headspace centre in Tasmania on Hobart’s eastern shore! We are privileged to be able to work on the traditional lands of Lutruwita Tasmania and connect with the community on the eastern shore of nipaluna Hobart. headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation with EACH being one of the lead agencies. Each year, headspace nationally assists thousands of young people, and their family and friends, access vital support through headspace services in over 145 communities across Australia, including online and phone counselling services, vocational services, and a presence in schools. About the role: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? As our Community Engagement and Participation Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in connecting with our local community and advocating for the needs of young individuals. From designing engaging events to coordinating peer support initiatives, you'll have the opportunity to shape our outreach efforts and drive meaningful change. Develop and implement a Community Awareness Strategy Coordinate events to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention Provide leadership and support to our community engagement workforce, including peer support workers and volunteers Maintain social media presence and engage with youth online Build partnerships with external service providers Facilitate youth participation and integrate their views into service planning Minimum Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field plus full AHPRA registration Psychologists who have full and current registration to practice with AHPRA. Social Workers holding an approved Social Work Qualification (Bachelor/ Master of Social Work) and who are registered with AASW. Occupational Therapists who have full and current professional registration to practice with AHPRA, and who have completed additional mental health specific training. Mental Health Nurses, who have completed additional training in mental health. State based Working with Vulnerable People Registration as an employee. Current state-based driver’s licence. Current First Aid Certificate and Mental Health First Aid Certificate (preferred). Skills: Demonstrated experience and commitment working with young people with mental health, alcohol and other drug, and other social challenges. Experience in community engagement, event coordination, and youth advocacy Proficiency in social media management and other digital communication tools Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events and activities within a community setting, and within an allocated budget. Strong experience and expertise with social media as a communication tool. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people from diverse backgrounds including young people who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Ability to connect with a diverse group of young people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young men, youth homelessness and LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or questioning).
