Community Recreation Leader - Summer Camp Leader Job ID: J1224-0757 (Please quote job ID on resume when applying) Department: Parks, Recreation & Culture Job Description: We are looking for creative and caring individuals with a keen interest in recreation, the outdoors, and a passion for working with children. This is a seasonal position for the duration of our Summer Camps, up to 40 hours a week dependent on program registration. The term of the position is 10 weeks, beginning June 23, 2025 and ending August 29, 2025.The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality summer camp opportunities for children in our community. In this role, the Summer Camp Leader works with the Community Recreation Programmer & Summer Camp Supervisor to create a supportive, fun, and inclusive camp experience for all participants. Duties: Oversee all aspects of camp activities Hands-on leader in camps, leading games, activities, and crafts Provide a safe & supportive environment for participants Work with staff, parents, and caregivers to provide service excellence Communicate with Community Recreation Programmer and Summer Camp Supervisor on a daily basis Work together with the rest of the camp team in: Planning of activities, themes, and trips Promotions and events Planning & organizing of supplies, camp forms, etc. Dealing with customer service complaints and suggestions Educational Requirements: Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED certification BCRPA High Five Certification Previous day camp or recreation experience an asset Preference may be given to current post-secondary students Skill Requirements: Outstanding leadership and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally diverse community setting Effective communication skills & positive attitude Salary: $22.80 hourly + 4% in lieu of benefits Additional Information: The City of Abbotsford is committed to creating a workplace that fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion.
