About our team Immigration | Service Design & Delivery Programs | Identity & Biometrics Forensic Services | Complex Identity Advice Overview of Branch: The Identity and Biometrics Forensic Services Branch supports the Department and Australian Border Force in resolving and assuring the identities of all those that cross the border or reside in Australia. The branch also assists domestic and international partners to identify persons of interest in criminal investigations and immigration fraud matters. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the branch contributes to streamlining departmental service delivery and enhancing fraud detection capabilities. Anchoring the identity of non-Australian citizens is vital to facilitating migration, travel, and trade that helps build a prosperous, secure, and united Australia. Through the development of legislation, policies, and processes, the Branch promotes the creation and use of secure and trusted identities for non-citizens and citizens throughout the Australian community and plays a pivotal role in assuring the identity of non-citizens applying to enter and stay in Australia through visa and citizenship pathways. Duties and responsibilities About Complex Identity Analyst role Complex Identity Analysts work under limited direction to investigate and resolve the identity of persons with complex identity issues and provide trusted advice to assist with identity resolution. They undertake comprehensive research and structured analysis of a broad range of qualitative information retrieved from various public and restricted data sources. Complex Identity Analysts present analysis, findings, and/or recommendations in structured written products and provide advice to support departmental priorities. Complex Identity Analysts plan and conduct interviews to support identity resolution. Complex Identity Analysts may also develop and deliver training in identity investigation to enhance the capability of their team, customers, and/or partner agencies, in addition to undertaking as part of a team, cohort research, analysis, and preparing reports and other decision support products. Specific duties/responsibilities Investigate complex identities and produce complex identity reports and products Conduct complex identity interviews Collect and collate information from departmental and open sources Analyse information, data, and intelligence Participate in analysis projects, taskforces Participate in case and peer reviews and evaluations Assist in delivering formal and informal training using identity resolution subject matter expertise. Additional skills for Complex Identity Analysts Proficiency in using and/or capability to learn and apply a range of research of open source tools and data operational systems Strong research skills Interview skills Strong analytical report writing. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and: ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC). Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check. In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
