Conference & Events Planning Manager (Fixed Term Contract) Location: Melbourne & Olympic Parks Job Code: 667 Number of openings: 1 Melbourne Park is seeking a dynamic and experienced Conference & Events Planning Manager to join our team on a 12-month parental leave cover, fixed-term contract . In this key role, you will lead a talented team to manage the end-to-end planning and delivery of high-quality conferences and events. About the role Reporting to the Venue Manager - CENTREPIECE, the Conference & Events Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of conferences and events across CENTREPIECE and Tennis HQ. This includes managing internal bookings, stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the highest standards of customer experience. You’ll lead the planning team, collaborate with the culinary and operations teams, and work closely with business partners and internal stakeholders to ensure each event meets and exceeds client expectations. Responsibilities Event Planning & Delivery: You’ll take charge of planning events from initial briefings to final delivery. You will collaborate with teams to ensure seamless event execution, meeting both client expectations and financial targets. Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management: You’ll develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Tennis Australia and other tenants, while driving business growth and ensuring excellent customer service. Leadership & Team Management: Leading a team of Conference & Event planners, you’ll mentor and guide them to achieve set KPIs and deliver innovative event solutions. Customer Experience Excellence: You’ll champion the customer experience by ensuring exceptional service and managing the often-competing demands of clients and stakeholders. Finance & Administration: You’ll manage event budgets, ensuring financial targets are met, and oversee the timely and accurate input of data into the event management system (Momentus). What you will bring to the role: Proven experience in event planning, with a strong background in coordinating large-scale events in a fast-paced environment. Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Exceptional time management, organisational, and communication skills. Strong understanding of the events industry, including budgeting, negotiation, and client relationship management. A customer-centric approach, with a proven track record of delivering excellent service and exceeding client expectations. Experience with event management systems (e.g., Momentus) and a solid understanding of operational processes. A passion for continuous improvement and driving innovation within the events space. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent experience. 5+ years’ experience in event management, particularly within large-scale venues or the sporting and entertainment sectors. Experience in leading a team and driving performance. Previous experience working with external catering or hospitality teams.
