The opportunity In support of the Australian growth strategy, and while continuing to meet internal corporate HSE requirements, a new Brisbane based role of AU Construction & Operations H&S Specialist has been created. This is a key position in our HSE strategy where you will provide high level advice to all business groups on managing H&S risks, liabilities and governance activities on client capital works/construction projects, and operational activities. The role aims to strengthen and amplify our trusted adviser status for clients. It will involve providing expert guidance during bids and project delivery to define “boundaries” and avoid inadvertently assuming control of H&S duties under legislation, particularly relating to Principal Contractor responsibilities. You will also provide general support to the QLD office including incident investigation and return-to-work requirements and ensure H&S activities are implemented in accordance with Beca’s requirements. This role is seen as critical to ensuring H&S compliance and excellence while aligning with Beca’s Australian growth strategy. About you For this position you will have a Tertiary qualification in H&S and membership/registration of relevant professional body. Your career so far will mean that you are seen as a respected specialist in the field of construction/operational H&S. You will also have: Sound knowledge of H&S legislation and market factors that may impact on the successful execution of capital works/construction projects. Incident investigation including ICAM or similar. Experience of construction/operational H&S auditing. Understanding and experience of contractor management requirements. Broad understanding of Beca’s key markets in Australia, including Defence, Water, Power, Industrial light and heavy manufacturing. Understanding of injury management and workers compensation.
