Job Description You will be part of the data engineering team for our data and analytics platforms. This role requires a mixture of hands-on strategic work and will also focus on developing Symbio’s data engineering capabilities across multiple teams. As a Data Warehouse Engineer, your role also encompasses improving data and engineering practices and adhering to our agile processes. The Data Warehouse Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines, architectures, and infrastructure to support data-driven decision-making processes. You will have a proven track record of working with large-scale data and analytics systems and be able to collaborate effectively with business analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders. There is an expectation that this role is part of the teams after-hours support roster (level 3), which is rotated weekly for production critical platforms. We also understand that we as a team need to do everything we can to ensure resilient and self-healing platforms and the data warehouse engineer will provide the time to make sure we do. Qualifications What you'll need to succeed: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 3-5 years of relevant commercial experience in a comparable role. Extensive experience in modern data engineering practices. Proven expertise in designing, building, and maintaining data analytics platforms, including Data Warehouses and Data Lakes. Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS. AWS Associate Developer or Architect certification is highly desirable. Deep understanding of AWS data warehousing tools, such as Glue, Athena, and Redshift. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD methodologies. Strong background in distributed data processing technologies, such as Kafka. Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases. Solid experience in data modeling and schema design. Advanced skills in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. A sense of ownership of technical projects and improvement of engineering practices.
