Deputy Commissioner, Emergency Management Operations Drive continuous improvement, collaboration and interoperability across the emergency management sector. Fixed, Full-Time (Up to 5 years) opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service. SES Grade 2: $290,601 - $419,000 Total Remuneration Package. The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Deputy Commissioner, Emergency Management Operations to provide a critical role within Emergency Management Victoria (EMV). About Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) Emergency Management Victoria leads emergency management in Victoria by maximising the ability of the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of communities to plan for, withstand, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV drives the development and implementation of policy, strategy, operational coordination, consequence management and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive and the Emergency Management Commissioner. About the Role You will be an accomplished executive, people leader and problem solver, with senior leadership experience in emergency management and coordination of operational activities in a complex operating environment. You will have a demonstrated commitment to working closely with critical partners and building leadership teams to deliver outcomes and ensure the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved. Some of your duties will include: Lead the Operational Coordination and State Operations branches within EMV, working closely with the Emergency Management Commissioner and Chief Executive, to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics and integrity; manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive culture and the development of staff. Lead the direction and delivery of the work program for the Operational Coordination and State Operations branches in line with the statutory accountabilities of the Emergency Management Commissioner, EMV, Government priorities and EMV's strategic direction and business plan. Oversee the development and implementation of timely and high-quality reporting on operational coordination services, outcomes and inputs that meets the needs of the Emergency Management Commissioner, Executive Management and government. Influence and coordinate emergency management agencies to undertake specific control activities in line with the State Emergency Management Plan, demonstrating extensive emergency management experience, outstanding judgement and effective communication and negotiation skills. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Previous experience in managing emergency incidents at a senior management level within either an emergency sector Agency or State/National level emergency management control environment. A strong understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements. Demonstrated experience in managing large, diverse groups in a dynamic environment. Qualifications A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in an appropriate discipline is desirable. AIIMS qualifications will be highly desirable.
